Retreat with Sufi Teacher Sherif Baba
As we all must by now be aware, the world is in an agitated state of rapid change, from the environment to the governments, from the economy to the societies. Intellectually, physically and spiritually we are all in full motion. This can be unsettling if we aren’t able to see where we are going. Sherif Baba often says that the day is between two nights, and that the dawn is approaching. During this weekend, Sherif Baba will explore with us where we are and where we are going. He will help us to realize what our parts are in this changing landscape of the soul. His tools are selfless ecstatic love, humility, humor and sincerity.
The path of love is built on the foundation of wisdom and justice. Both elements of this foundation are necessary for authentic love to flourish. In the tradition of the Sufis, Sherif Baba will weave a tapestry of inspired discourse, devotional song, and sweet humor that will allow us to explore these themes in depth, and to see how they can be realized in our everyday life.
We are excited to have this opportunity to welcome Sherif Baba and his gifted interpreter, Cem from their home in Turkey as they include Arkansas in their US tour. Sherif Baba is a traditional teacher who has been learning and teaching on the Sufi path for over 60 years. He began his spiritual education in a conservative school and received training in multiple ancient Sufi lineages. He has traveled widely both in the East and in the West, meeting with masters of many traditions and teaching in various countries Through this rich and varied experience, Sherif Baba has developed an open and universal message that speaks to the hearts of people today. Sherif Baba will be accompanied by his student of 22 years, Cem, a gifted interpreter, storyteller and leader of the “Zikr” (ceremony of divine remembrance).
MARCH 14-16, 2014 in Arkansas
This two-venue weekend begins Friday night, March 14th at 7:30 pm at 68 West Mountain St in Eureka Springs, AR – this building is known as the Christian Science Reading Room and has been recently remodeled and dedicated as our newest Sufi gathering place in the area. This evening with Sherif Baba and Cem will be open to the public. A donation is requested but not essential so that all may feel welcome to this first evening.
Saturday will continue at the Mountain Street venue in Eureka Springs with morning and afternoon sessions and includes lunch. An evening session of zikr will also be offered.
Sunday, March 16th Baba will be at Heartsong for the afternoon and evening of teachings, zikr and shared love plus a potluck.
$ 125.00 is fee for entire weekend package (Fri-Sunday)
$30 is fee for Heartsong only (Sunday only)
We are excited to to have Sherif Baba and Cem here for this 3-day event which will be a FUNDRAISER FOR HEARTSONG – money raised will help to keep Heartsong going strong and support upcoming improvement projects!
